Born in Montreal and raised in New York, and now based in Austin, TX, Aram Amini has been painting since childhood. With a father who studied fine art and built a career as a jewelry designer, she was immersed in the creative world early on—his critiques shaping her artistic eye since the age of ten. Her work is deeply rooted in the language of fashion, drawing inspiration from the textures, patterns, and prints of textiles. Each piece is a conversation between structure and fluidity, reflecting both the tangible beauty of fabric and the deeper narratives woven into identity and self-expression.

As a first-generation Iranian-American, she carries an awareness of the freedoms she holds as a woman—especially in art and fashion—contrasted against the restrictions imposed on women in Iran. The ability to dress as she chooses, to let her personal style and artistic vision be seen without limitation, is a privilege she never takes for granted. Through her work, she not only celebrates this autonomy but also acknowledges the unseen weight carried by women whose expression is governed by control. Her paintings exist at this intersection of appreciation and resistance, translating fabric into a symbol of both beauty and agency.
